Frequently asked questions
Does SmartFilter read all my messages?
No. iOS only hands SmartFilter messages from unknown senders — people who aren't in your contacts and who you haven't replied to several times. iMessages and texts from known contacts are never seen by the app.
Where do filtered messages go?
They're routed into the Junk, Promotions, or Transactions folders inside Apple's Messages app. Nothing is deleted — you can always review them.
Does it work on Android?
SmartFilter relies on Apple's message-filtering extension, so it's iPhone-only. iOS 16 or later is recommended.
Is it free?
Yes — the core filtering, ML model, and the Account Phishing pack are free. An optional supporter tip unlocks regex filters, unlimited rules, premium filter packs, and alternate icons.
Will it block texts I actually want?
You stay in control. Add senders or keywords to your Allow lists and they'll always reach your inbox, overriding every other rule.
